Ford Boss and his new XR6 Turbo
If anyone deserves to be the first to drive away in a brand new Phantom XR6 Turbo, it is Geoff Polites. It took Ford Australia's dynamic President to place the revival of Ford's core values, dynamic, passionate and exciting, back on the agenda.
It was also Geoff who recognized that the new BA range would need a fresh range of engines and won corporate support for the BA's benchmark new in-line sixes with their twin overhead cams, 24 valves and dual variable camshaft timing. The new Turbo version overshadows most V8 engines and revives the original XR6's V8-beating achievements. The boosts in refinement, fuel efficiency and lower emissions that came with these new engines caught many in the industry by surprise. Geoff's new car, like all XR6 Turbos, had its 18 inch wheel and tyre option and its intercooler and plumbing fitted at Ford Performance Vehicles. Well done, Geoff. Every Ford performance fan would want you to enjoy the outcome as much as they will.
