GT Country

David Bowden has created Australia's most prized collection of historic muscle cars. We take a trip to his Queensland home for a walk down memory lane.

Tucked into the tropical hinterland west of Queensland's Sunshine Coast is a gold mine. Before you pack your pick axes and dynamite in search of fortune, this is not your typical gold mine.

Goss in a Boss

John Goss is a true blue GT legend. This year marks the 30th anniversary of his Bathurst victory - the last in a Falcon GT. Luke West caught up with Goss to celebrate his career and introduce him to the new-age FPV GT.

John Goss is gazing out towards the prosperous Bathurst township from the top of Mount Panorama. It's dusk on a pearler of a NSW Central West day - far removed from the soggy occasion 30 years ago when Goss won the first of his two Bathurst 1000s.

Trading Places

The legend behind the GT Falcon was created on the hallowed strip of road that circles Mount Panorama

Racing is in the GT bloodline, so it's only natural for Ford Performance Vehicles to take it on. But how does today's FPV GT compare to its racing brother from Ford Performance Racing.

Deep V8 Throbosis

Ross Jackson was hooked ever since he saw one of the first Mustangs, a defining moment that led him to create his own Ford V8 story....

I bought my XW GT-HO Phase I in December 1989. I had owned a 1973 XB GT, one of the early ones with the 4V Cleveland and top loader, from 1984 to 1989. I replaced it with one of the first Mazda MX-5 sports but it wasn't long before it was obvious there was a GT-sized gap in my life.

The House of Windsor

Joe Kenwright traces the history of the Windsor V8 king maker that spans a longer performance heritage in Australia than anywhere else in the world.

Because the 1962 Fairlane marked such a fresh and welcome return to the more compact dimensions of local Ford V8 models before 1959, the significance of its revolutionary new V8 escaped most Australians in 1962. The more rugged components from this Fairlane series would help the first Falcon survive its early durability problems and lay the foundations for 40 years of the Windsor V8 in Australia.
